About China Blossom
China Blossom is one of the oldest and most popular eating and drinking establishments North of Boston. Since 1960, the restaurant has served the area’s residents with premium, freshly prepared traditional Asian cuisine in a relaxed atmosphere inspired by the varied regions of Asia. China Blossom is trusted by thousands of people every week for its comfortable dining rooms, full bar, private function facilities, and takeout delivery services.
Premium Food & Drink
China Blossom’s success of over 50 years has been built on its commitment to premium food and drink. The restaurant uses only high quality ingredients that are fresh and 100% all natural. The menu of over 200-items and the daily buffet are carefully prepared in-house, and China Blossom’s diverse and experienced kitchen staff craft nearly all offerings from scratch. Staying true to its philosophy from the day the restaurant was started more than 50 years ago, the bar carries only top-shelf liquors to provide the best tasting cocktails including China Blossom’s famous Mai Tai.
An Institution’s History Begins with an American Dream
China Blossom’s founder Richard Yee was born in China and immigrated to the United States in 1951 to pursue the American Dream. Richard’s father and grandfather immigrated just a few years earlier and opened a small take-out restaurant specializing in Chinese cuisine in Haverhill, Massachusetts. When Richard arrived to America as a teenager, he worked in the family business. He knew he wanted to be a restaurateur from an early age and worked every job from dish washer to maitre d’ to learn every aspect of the business. He spent time in New York working in restaurants from Manhattan to Westchester County to master his craft.
In 1958, Richard was drafted to the U.S. Army where he learned lessons in discipline and work ethic, which he credits in helping him achieve his version of the American Dream. “That’s the great thing about America,” says Yee. “You can have a dream and it can come true, as long as you are willing to work hard for it.”
Richard opened China Blossom in 1960 on Route 125 in North Andover. With hard work and the commitment to providing excellent Chinese food, exceptional service, and a great value, China Blossom became an instant success.
Still to this day, China Blossom is committed to providing premium Chinese cuisine and exceptional service at an incredible value. The restaurant uses only fresh, premium ingredients in its food and drink. The atmosphere is comfortable, Asian-oriented, and was most recently updated by the same architect who designed the acclaimed addition to the Peabody Essex Museum. Still a family-owned and -operated business, China Blossom remains one of the most popular restaurants in the area.
China Blossom, despite its incredible growth since it first began, intentionally maintains only one location at its site across from the Lawrence Municipal Airport on the corner of Route 125 and Sutton Street in North Andover, just minutes away from I-495. China Blossom is focused on the long-term goal of supporting families, employees, and the people and communities it serves.
